Linux
is an operating system that was initially created as
a hobby by a young Linus Torvalds, at the University
of Helsinki in Finland. He began his work in 1991 when
he released version 0.02 and worked steadily until 1994
when version 1.0 of the Linux Kernel was released. The
kernel, at the heart of all Linux systems, is developed
and released under the GNU General Public License and
its source code is freely available to everyone. Technology
Alignment also makes it's source code available to the
public and shares in certain developments. There are
now literally thousands of companies and organizations
and an equal number of individuals that have released
their own versions of operating systems based on the
Linux kernel. Technology Alignment sets itself apart
from most Linux companies with a fully supported Linux
operating system with a long lifecycle and making it
intuitive to the users coming off of Windows. Pioneer
is marketed as a replacement for Microsoft Windows.
Throughout
most of the 1990's most companies have dismissed Linux
as a computer hobbyist project, unsuitable for the general
public's computing needs. Through the efforts of developers
of desktop management systems such as KDE and GNOME,
office suite project OpenOffice.org and Firefox, to
name only a few, there are now a wide range of applications
that run on Linux and it can be used by anyone regardless
of his/her knowledge of computers. Technology Alignment
also develops CRM/Supply Chain Management applications,
IP Telephone Systems, Cross-platform products for both
Linux and OS/X (Mac) to name a few with embedded Linux
devices such as routers and firewalls coming.
If you want to see the capabilities of Linux you can
download our Live CD and run it without installing it
at http://www.tapioneer.com/downloads.php.
It comes with everything you need to carry out day-to-day
tasks on the computer and it needs no installation.
It will run from a CD in a computer capable of booting
from the CD drive. If you're comfortable enough, you
can install the Pioneer operating system on your computer
and use it freely as an individual. Technology Alignment
also produces the Pioneer Basic line of operating systems
that include desktops, servers, and combined server
and workstation. These operating systems carry a full
7-year lifecycle and allow users the ability to run
the operating system without having to reload it as
new versions are released.
